SHSD Superintendent Search Update

February 2, 2010 By Nancy Covert

The process of selecting the next Superintendent for the oldest school district in Pierce County moved to its next step at the end of January. The deadline for candidates for the position of Superintendent of Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 to submit applications for consideration was January 29, 2010.

A group of semifinalists will be announced at the School Board’s February 10 meeting, to be held at Cherrydale Primary School in Steilacoom. Those semifinalists will be interviewed at Pioneer Middle School, DuPont, beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20. The public is welcome to attend.

Community Forums, where the public has an opportunity to meet and hear the finalists, are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 23 at Steilacoom High School and March 1, if three finalists are selected. The Board will then vote on its top candidate during the March 10 Board Meeting, scheduled at Chloe Clark Elementary School. The School Board plans to announce its selection in late March, and the successful candidate will begin his/her duties effective July 1, 2010.
