Dr. Raymond C Ellis MD passed away in Salt Lake City on his birthday, January 26, 2010, of bladder cancer. Raymond was a prominent pediatrician in Tacoma for 45 years, having third generation patients. He gave the first polio vaccination in Tacoma, and served as the Chief of Staff at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2006 following the death of his beloved wife of 58 years, Teddy. Active member of LDS (Mormon) church all his life, serving in Bishopric, High Council, and many teaching positions. He was a Sealer in the Bellevue temple and was a church Patriarch, performing 600 blessings. The last two were to his grandsons. After moving to Salt Lake City, Raymond worked in the Jordan River Temple, was his church organist, high priest group teacher, hospice chaplain, and continued his hobby of stained glass. Born January 26, 1923 in Storrs, UT to Dora Petersen and David Henry Ellis. His family moved to Ellensberg, WA in 1934. Completed pre-med at the University of Washington, and graduated from the University of Oregon medical school. Air Force captain, Korean War. Preceded in death by wife Teddy. Survived by sister Evelyn Conrad, children Paige, Bennett, Tedd(Debbie) and Michael; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
