Kent Keel announces candidacy for State House

University Place, WA — Three-term University Place school board member Kent Keel announces his candidacy for State Representative in the 28th legislative district in 2010 as a Republican. He will run against Democrat incumbent Tami Green.

Keel, 51, is a small business owner, a member of the US Army Reserve and is very active in his church. He has extensive management experience in government agencies and private corporations in Washington. He and his wife, the former Renee Crisp, are both military “brats” and their families have been in the 28th District for over 40 years. Kent and Renee have been married for 27 years. They have three adult children – Linnea a graduate of Providence College in Rhode Island works as a counselor for teen girls in Providence; Emmanuel a Curtis High School graduate is currently preparing for a career in law enforcement; and Lacey is completing her last year at Curtis High School.

“I am running for the legislature because we need seasoned leaders representing the 28th District in Olympia who are proven, circumspect and pragmatic problem-solvers. After talking to others in our community, I am convinced that people share my priorities of public safety, a balanced budget, efficient government, reasonable taxing and effective regulatory policy. I do not support a state income tax and will work hard in Olympia to put the business of people back in state government!”
