Her parents, Henry and Anna Sorg, raised Marie and 7 other siblings. Marie graduated from Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1936. She married Calvin D. Bamford on June 15, 1940, and raised 3 children in Tacoma. Marie pursued a variety of interests and participated in a number of groups over her lifetime, including Tacoma Yacht Club, a garden club, Tacoma Orthopedic Association, Fircrest Golf Club, a women’s bowling league, and an investment club. After the death of her husband in 1975, Marie spent time with her extended family yet also traveled independently to places around the world such as Egypt, Asia, Europe and Australia. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Calvin, her parents and her 7 siblings. She is survived by her children, Kathryn Bamford, Calvin (Joanne) Bamford, and Barbara Bamford (John Erickson), along with 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. “Mimi” will be fondly remembered for her generosity, caring for others and dedication to her family.
