As Lakewood resident since 1974, father of two Lakes High School graduates and a member of the Clover Park Technical College Board of Trustees, I’d like to share why I am pleased to support Clover Park School District’s February 9th bond vote.
Lakewood is a dynamic city with a long history of educational excellence. Whether you have or had students in the district, voters benefit directly from well-prepared graduates. Especially in these difficult times our children deserve a good education and proper preparation for the world of work.
Clover Park Technical College (CPTC), under the leadership of Dr. John Walstrum, and Clover Park School District (CPSD), led by Dr. Debbie LeBeau, have worked together to promote the success of our students.
Both the college and school district serve high school students by providing greater access to technology training at CPTC and career training skills at CPSD, making high school more relevant. This better prepares students for graduation and more meaningful careers.
I am particularly proud our institutions jointly support building the Harrison Preparatory Academy adjacent to the college’s Steilacoom Boulevard campus. Once built, Academy students will have an opportunity to study on a college campus in a state-of-the-art school focusing on cutting-edge technology and rigorous academic standards.
Please join me in voting yes for Clover Park School District’s bond February 9th.
