Lena (Finkas) Halverson Went home to the Lord January 11. Born in Missouri in 1924, the family moved to Longview, where she graduated from high school and trained to be a hairdresser. Lena practiced the art of hair dressing for over 30 years. She married Lester Finkas in 1943, who rose to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. They were stationed in California, the Panama Canal Zone, and in Germany, where Lester commanded a radar base in the British sector. In 1974, Lena married Sidney Halverson, who owned Halverson Fish Market in Tacoma. Together they traveled and remodeled real estate holdings. Preceded in death by her husband Sidney, she will be greatly missed by her sister Hermena Murray, her son John Finkas and his wife Linda, stepsons Lowell Halverson (Diane), Darrell Halverson (Stephanie), and grandchildren Clark and Ciara Aylsworth, Liana Montague (Tom), Ward Halverson (Kimberly), Adam Halverson (Theresa), Lindsay Lecour (Manuel), and nine great-grandchildren. Burial Mass will be held Friday, January 22, 2010, 11AM, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 10630 Gravelly Lake Dr. SW, Lakewood. Teresa Grace (Verfers) Henry Born October 17, 1926 in Corning, Ohio, she died January 15, 2010 at Life Care Center of Puyallup. Teresa was a devoted wife, bravely fishing in rough water with her beloved husband Evart ‘Hank’ Henry. Teresa not only fished, she was a master gardener, after retiring from her working years. She was a skilled cook, decorator and floral arranger, taking great pride in everything she did. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and sister. She is survived by her son Jeff, brother-in-law Ray, and nieces Terri (Rich) and Cheryl. At her request, no service will be held. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery. Teresa will be missed by her two friends, Mary and Charlene, who cared for and about her until the end. Special thanks to the Life Care staff who gave Teresa TLC for all the years she was with them. Dolores Leona Sacha, 78, died January 13th at her home on McKinley Hill where she had lived for the past 59 years. She was the daughter of Wilbur and Edna Aronell, and was born in Wenatchee on September 6, 1931. She was an active member of McKinley Hill Friends Church for over 40 years and corresponded with over 100 pen pals in the US and abroad. Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, William C. Sacha. She is survived by her sons, Michael, Gary and Frederick (Rick) Sacha and their wives, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Louise Stephenson Died peacefully at her home on January 10, 2010 at the age of 83. She was born in Denton, MT on May 2, 1926 as Mabel Louise Korslund. As a young girl, she and her family lived in Boise, ID before moving to Tacoma in 1942. During WWII, she worked at the Rainier Ordinance Depot. On January 12, 1946 Louise married George Stephenson, Jr. In 1951, George built the home that she lived in until her death. At the time of George’s death, the couple had been married 62 years. They raised three daughters, Linda, Pamela and Martie. While her girls attended school she was involved with Y-Wives and PTA. The PTA awarded her the Acorn Award. Louise loved quilting and was a member of the “Comforters Quilt Guild”. She and George belonged to the “Viking Yacht Club”. She loved to dance. She was a very caring and giving person. She will be missed immensely. She is survived by her sisters, JoAn Lynn and Caroline Wagner, three daughters, Linda Harper, Pamela Peters (husband Philip) and Martie Van Patten (special friend Bob), five grandchildren, Stephanie Epperly (husband Glen), Jason Peters, Matthew Harper, Nicholas Van Patten (wife Tracy) and Dustin Van Patten (fianc Mel) and five great grandchildren, Zackery Van Patten, Dylan Christian, Aunna Van Patten, Caitlin Van Patten and Grace Louise Epperly. Eyvone Renee Wade Aug. 7, 1971 – Dec. 20, 2009 On Sunday, December 20, 2009, we said goodbye to our Mother, sister, aunt, granddaughter and girlfriend-Eyvone Renee Wade. To sum it up we lost a family member and a loved one. Renee leaves behind for us to love and care for her sons Anttjuan (19) and Sheyvaughn (16), her partner of 16 years, Kenyon (Edward) White, siblings Artesty, Anthony and Wendy, and a host of nieces and nephews. Renee was preceded in eternal life by her mother, Yvonne Holloman.
