MLK Assembly at SHS

January 13, 2010 By Nancy Covert

Taking stock of where one has been and where one is going has long been a useful tool in assessing what comes next—an appropriate activity for January: looking backward, and forward.

On Friday, Jan. 15 at 8:30 a.m. at Steilacoom High School, students will revisit and re-examine the legacy of 20th century leader Dr. Martin Luther King, as well as that of other black leaders and their achievements.

Hearing from someone who was there is always beneficial; this year SHS senior Mareco Smith from Memphis, is the featured speaker, scheduled to convey to audience the powerful lessons of that period from our history.

Other speakers include Bryan Veal and Morgan Henson.

SHS assistant principal Andre Stout is the contact person for more information about this important assembly. He can be reached at 983-2300.
