Saltar’s Point Elementary teacher Joy Yoder knows how to combat this perennial problem. Take the kids to the museum.!
For four days in January: Jan 12, 14, 19 and 21, nine fourth grade classes (that’s about 270 students) will visit the Steilacoom Historical Museum to learn about the history of this Place of Firsts.
The visit, arranged with the Museum’s Education Committee, is part of the school curriculum. Kids will have an opportunity to sample activities from the good old days such as churning butter, and rolling dough as well as touring the historic Nathaniel Orr Home (circa 1857) and spending time in the restored Wagon Shop.
