Children will build important reading fundamentals with the help of dogs during free events at Pierce County Library System.
* Graham Pierce County Library, 9202 224th St. E., on Tuesdays, Jan. 4 – Feb. 22, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m.
* Summit Pierce County Library, 5107 112th St. E., on Wednesdays, Jan. 5 – Feb. 16, 4 – 5 p.m.
Certified, trained therapy dogs pay careful, patient attention to children learning to read and expand their reading abilities. New or reluctant readers develop and improve important literacy skills.
“Reading to the dogs helps children experience success in reading aloud,” said Neel Parikh, executive director for Pierce County Library System. “They gain confidence in their ability to learn and look eagerly for more books to read.”
The Friends of the Graham and Summit Libraries sponsor these free events.
