Caring for Kids – Making a Difference

December 29, 2009 By Diane Formoso

On December 12th the Caring for Kids Holiday Fair helped 2,476 kids in our community with food and gifts. The following weekend December 19th we also supported the Food Connection Mobile Food Bank at Springbrook by providing toys, bath products, potatoes and a small bag of canned goods to 164 families.

We are also happy to share that 91 high school and middle school students, along with community volunteers, spent Saturday November 29th volunteering for Stuff the Bus at Clover Park High School. At the Holiday Fair at least 100 volunteers helped Friday and Saturday to fill the 650 family baskets. The families showed up at 11 A.M. and we were finished and out of Hudtloff Middle School by 2:30 P.M. We want to thank everyone for their support!

This has been a very demanding year for Caring for Kids, but we are making a difference. Please mark your calendar for February 20th for our “Happy Hearts……Caring for Kids” Auction, which is our major fundraiser. Order your tickets ($35 including dinner) by email, carekids@comcast.net or 279-9777. All of the proceeds will go directly to help our kids. We are also looking for sponsorships and auction items.
