Volunteer opportunities from the UP Volunteer Center

December 17, 2009 By Ben Sclair

Following are upcoming events in University Place in need of volunteers. To get involved, contact the Julie Kerrigan at the UP Volunteer Center, 253-223-0039.

Christmas Food Drive

Saturday, December 19th 10 am-2 pm – UP Fish Food Bank 8101 27th W. (next to UP Presbyterian Church)

On December 19th people are encouraged to place non-perishable food on their curbs for the Fish Food Bank. All the food will be collected by volunteers with volunteered vehicles and taken back to the Food Bank. We especially need trucks for food pick up. This is a great way to give back to your community and help those in need.

Blue Christmas Service: Longest Night-Winter Solstice Service

December 21, at 7:00pm – United Church in University Place, located at 3912 Grandview Dr. W, in University Place.

Are you finding this time of year a conflict of what the media tells us we should be feeling and our experience of loss through family separations, divorce or even death of a loved one? Please join us for our annual message of healing and hope. A reception follows; please direct questions to 253-564-2754.
