With private schools becoming increasingly selective, admission tests have taken on the importance and anxiety of college entrance exams. Students seeking entry to private or parochial schools may be asked to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).
The SSAT is used by more than 500 member schools of the Secondary School Admissions Test Board and the ISEE is used by member schools of the Independent Schools Association. Each of these tests is designed to evaluate a student’s academic aptitude and ability, and are typically an important component of the admissions process.
Huntington Learning Center in Lakewood is now offering one-to-one prep programs for students taking the SSAT or ISEE.
“Our program features an intensive diagnostic evaluation and a personalized program of one-to-one instruction,” says Erica Hwang, operator of Huntington Learning Center in Lakewood. “SAT and ACT college exam preparation has always been an important part of our full-service instructional program. Now we are pleased to add exam prep for private schools to that program. We are constantly looking for ways to meet the needs of parents and children in the communities we serve. And as competition for admission to selective schools becomes more challenging, parents can look to Huntington Learning Center to give their children an Educational Edge.”
