Frederick F. Greer Lifetime Tacoma resident Fred Greer passed away peacefully in Everett, WA on October 31, 2009 with family by his side. Fred was born in Tacoma on January 1, 1912. Fred proudly served in the US Army during WWII and after an honorable discharge worked at the American Smelting & Refining Co. (ASARCO) in Ruston, WA. Retiring as a Furnace Foreman in 1971. Fred will be remembered by many in the Ruston area as he was a frequent patron of many of the local establishments as well as a member of the Narrows VFW for many years. Fred will also be remembered as a man with a huge heart, who worked hard, and was never afraid to lend a hand. Fred was a wonderful story teller who lived nearly a century, he will be greatly missed. Fred leaves behind daughters: Anne Greer, Carole Anne Dietz, Carla Stewart (Gaylon), Caren Purbaugh (Jon), 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who loved him dearly. Sharon Maria Hammeken My darling wife passed away peacefully on November 1, 2009. She was born on October 24, 1942 in Seattle. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steve, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, four brothers and numerous relatives and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, son and daughter, grandson, and a sister and brother. She loved people and was loved by all. Marie C. Strauss (DeKrey), born in Pettibone, North Dakota on March 22, 1912, passed away on November 1, 2009. Marie taught in the rural schools in Pettibone for seven years. She was an active member in several churches over the years and was a member of United Church in University Place. Survivors include daughter Muriel Clough; grandsons, Brien Clough and wife Shanon, Kevin Clough and wife Camille; great-granddaughter Gracie Clough; and great-grandsons Santana Clough and Dakoda and Sequoia Waddell; in-laws Ole and Lorraine Tokheim; nieces, a nephew, and many cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband Harold, son Eugene, son-in-law Danny Clough, a sister, Henriette Knoblich, former brother-in-law Gottlieb, brothers John and Leroy DeKrey, and sister-in-law Lou. Margret Elizabeth Ward August 7, 1922 – October 31, 2009 Margret was born in Seattle to Clara Francis and Axel Swanson. She joined the Salvation Army Church in 1938 and volunteered numerous hours. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clifford Ward, her daughter Melode Motycka (Bill), grandchildren Elizabeth Feigen (Eric), Jeffrey Sutton (Jana), great grandchildren Kyle, Lindsay, Madeline and a girl expected in March. Dale Larson Born 5/15/28 to Helmer and Margret Larson and passed away 11/1/09. A graduate of Lincoln High School and five years at College of Puget Sound (now UPS); served in the Korean War, stationed in Germany for two years. Preceded in death by mother and father and sister, Shirley.
