Help celebrate Make a Difference Day in the City of Lakewood by participating in this national day of community service on Saturday, October 24th. The Kick-Off event will feature a food drive for the Emergency Food Network (EFN) and all attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the opening event. The Kick-Off event will be held at City Hall (6000 – Main Street SW) with refreshments being served at 8 am. The program will begin at 8:30 am with a welcome by Mayor Doug Richardson and an overview of the various projects by Youth Council member, Ashok Chandwaney. We will leave for the project sites by 8:50 am. The event is hosted and coordinated by the Lakewood Youth Council and will feature projects at: Fort Steilacoom Park with the Grave Concerns Association and the Friends of Fort Steilacoom Park & Nature, the Flett Creek Blueberry Farm, The Fire Department Pumpkin Patch and Caring for Kids.
We will have groups from Cub Scout Pack 53, and the 4/2 Stryker Brigade from Fort Lewis assisting us with these projects. Help make a difference in our city by participating in this year’s event.
