MalmEvelynEvelyn Ruth Malm was born November 2, 1921 in Steele, North Dakota. Moved to Montana in 1937, and to Washington State in 1943. Passed away at her home on October 1, 2009 after a lengthy struggle with heart and Alzheimer’s disease. Evelyn had many interests over the years and was especially proud of being an accomplished welder during the ship yard days. She married Oscar Malm in June 1947, and inherited a ready-made family of three, Joyce, Delores, and Kenneth Malm. Preceded in death by husband Oscar Malm and daughter Joyce, parents William and Amanda Wilson, sisters Kathryn Crider and Emma Lorenzo, brother Ted Wilson. Other family members include brother William Wilson (Bertha), sister Dolores Olson, and many extended family members. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12 at the Puyallup Nazarene Church, 1026 7th Avenue SW, Puyallup, WA. Tucker-GibbonsNinaNina W. Tucker-Gibbons passed away peacefully the evening of September 24, 2009. A native of Puyallup she was the third of five children born to Eva and Boone Willmott. She married Valjean Tucker in 1942 and moved with him and their children to California in 1949 where they lived for fourteen years. After her husband’s death in 1963, she returned to Puyallup where she entered into her mother’s real estate business, eventually becoming owner/broker of Willmott Real Estate. For over forty years she was an active community member via her real estate business, Toastmasters, Bethany Baptist Church, Puyallup High School Alumni Association as well as many other organizations. She was a faithful contributor to many charities and missions/missionaries. During her years at Bethany she was a member of the Bell Choir, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member and enjoyed numerous outings with her Sunday School classes. She remarried in 1989 and moved her residence to South Hill. In November of 2007 Nina moved to Merrill Gardens where she enjoyed a very active social life. She attended the Resident’s Board meetings and became the “Sunshine Girl” enabling her to keep tabs on all the residents. She was a member of the Wii Bowling team and led the Yoga classes when the Activities Director was not available. Nina also enjoyed several Argosy Cruises and Mystery Rides while a resident there. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ora Gibbons, her husbands Valjean Tucker and Charles Gibbons, her brothers Frank, Carl and Boone Willmott, a step-son Dean Gibbons, and one great, great grandchild, Sophie Smith. Survivors include 4 children and 2 stepchildren: Joy Laird and husband Larry of Lakeside, AZ; Jill Wiinikka and Curt Fridell of Snohomish, WA; Nina Bell currently staying with Jill; Rodney Tucker and wife Tawnya of Graham, WA; Linda Houser of West Hartford, CT; and Carol Krause of Concord, MA. She also left behind 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren as well as numerous step-grandchildren and foster- grandchildren. Through her church she was also a surrogate grandmother to many families. All are welcome to attend a Memorial service on November 14, 2009, at 1:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church, 713 S. WahlgrenLillianLillian M. Wahlgren 1921 – 2009 Lillian went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2009. She was born December 25, 1921 in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of Fred P. and Theodora Wahlgren. Spending her entire life in the Tacoma area after graduating from Stadium High School, she assumed the responsibilities with her brother Fred of operating the family-owned business Wahlgren’s Floral. They remained in business for sixty-two years. Lillian enjoyed teaching floral design and frequently traveled to the East Coast to participate in floral design programs. She always looked forward to spending time at her vacation home in North Carolina and traveling with friends throughout the Southeast. Lillian had a caring heart and extended to others much kindness. Lillian is survived by her nephews Fred and David Wahlgren of Tacoma, and niece Julie Denney of Seattle. The family is grateful for the staff at Cascade Park Vista for the exceptional loving care Lillian received during her stay. Graveside service will be held Friday, October 9, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home. Doris Leone Austin peacefully passed away on October 2, 2009 after a long wonderful 96 years. Mom was born in Yakima on June 11, 1913, and moved to Tacoma in about 1923. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1931, and married George Lewis Austin (February 4, 1907 to April 10, 1996) in 1934. She is directly survived by her daughter Carolyn Leone Austin, her son Frederick Lewis Austin, daughter-in-law Donna Rae Austin, grandsons Jerry Andrew Austin, Ronald James Austin with his wife Emily Colleen Austin, and great-grandson Liam Frederick Austin. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces with their families. Her energy, her joyful laughter, her loving smiles and tender touch will be sorely missed by all. We will be celebrating her life at 11:30 Saturday October 10, 2009, at Center Point Christian Fellowship. 2041 S. 66th St. Tacoma.
