Arts Week at the YMCA: Oct. 5-9

October 6, 2009 By Ben Sclair

ArtsThe YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is committed to providing programs that focus on spirit, mind and body. Included in that commitment is a new emphasis on the arts. To recognize the talent in our community, the YMCA is hosting “Y Arts Week” October 5-9.

Events throughout the week are open to the public. Each event will include professional and emerging artist galleries, children’s visual arts galleries, hand-on art activities, workshops, and live performances by professional musicians and dancers, as well as the YMCA dance companies.

“Dance allows me to express feelings that words can’t and fills me with life and energy,” says YMCA Arts Week participant and dancer Catherine Holcombe. “I am so blessed to have been able to dance at the YMCA for the past 14 years, where skill level or body type do not matter as much what really is important — sharing our joy for dance.”
