Jay Mayer has been promoted to manager of Northwest Commercial Bank’s Lakewood Branch, replacing Monica Stevens who is retiring. President and CEO Kurt Graff announced the changes Friday, Oct. 1. Mayer has been with the rapidly-growing Lakewood-based bank for the last four years.
In addition to his duties as branch manager, Mayer will continue working with a portfolio of loan customers as he has been doing since joining the bank as a Senior Vice President.
Prior to joining Northwest Commercial Bank, Mayer was manager of the Columbia Bank Lakewood Branch. He has more than 25 years banking experience, starting his career with Puget Sound Bank after earning a degree in business from Central Washington University. Mayer worked for Puget Sound and later Key Bank for 12 years, managing a Puyallup branch before moving over to Columbia Bank.
In addition to his business degree, Mayer also graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School.
A native of Washington, Mayer grew up in Cashmere and graduated from high school there. He and his wife, Stella, have one child, Amy. They make their home in Puyallup.
Mayer is a member of Lakewood Rotary Club, serves on the board of directors of Greater Lakes Mental Health, is past board chair of Consumer Counseling Northwest and Partners for Parks. Mayer also served on the board of directors of the Lakewood Area Chamber of Commerce.
Northwest Commercial Bank is a full service bank specializing in serving individuals and small businesses. “Our experienced bankers make the difference and our customers have shown that they were ready for more individualized service. We believe we can provide all of our customers the type service shown only to private banking clients at other banks,” Graff pointed out.
Located at 5726 100th Street SW in Lakewood, Northwest Commercial Bank also operates a branch in Auburn, a loan production office in Puyallup and recently opened its mortgage banking division, Northwest Mortgage Capital Group. Graff said a Private Banking Department was implemented in August, headed up by Ed Fisher. The bank opened in 2002.
