Are you interested in the welfare of members of our military services? If you are you will want to attend a preview of a film related to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lakewood. The free screening will occur Oct 8 at 7 pm.
“Coming Home: Supporting Your Soldier” was developed by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Optum in cooperation with a number of American Legion and VFW Posts in Minnesota.
The film covers the warning signs of PTSD and its effect on both the veteran and their family.
Sponsored by the Pierce County chapter of NAMI, the object is to spread the information about PTSD in veterans by encouraging groups to share the film at their meetings. Free copies of the film will be available during the Oct 8 meeting. In addition to free copies of the film, NAMI will also have available lists of agencies and organizations in Pierce County where mental health services and support are available. St. Mary’s Church is located at 10630 Gravelly Lake Dr SW, just south of the Lakewood Library.
NAMI is a local, non-profit organization providing advocacy, support and education about mental illness and recovery,
