Lakewood City Council Candidate Forum

September 27, 2009 By Ben Sclair

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and The Suburban Times will be hosting a Lakewood City Council Candidates Forum on Thursday, October 1, from 6-8 pm at the Sharon McGavick Conference Center located in Building 23 at Clover Park Technical College. Ben Sclair, publisher of The Suburban Times will be the moderator for the evening.

The evening’s format is designed to have candidates participate with a self-introduction, a Q&A session from the moderator, and finally an open Q&A format from the floor. Community members are encouraged to submit their questions for the candidates prior to the debate and can e-mail all questions to lsmith@lakewood-wa.com.

The forum is intended for the education of the public on candidates’ views regarding issues impacting economic development, community services, transportation, infrastructure and more. The forum is not meant to endorse or support any particular candidate. If you do not live in the city limits of Lakewood, please encourage your employees and cohorts who do live and vote in the community to attend.

All City Council candidates have indicated they will be in attendance. Council member candidates are as follows:

  • Lakewood Council Position 1: Mary Moss, Darrel Shiley
  • Lakewood Council Position 2: Mike Brandstetter, Connie Coleman-Lacadie
  • Lakewood Council Position 3: Sam Ross, Jason Whalen
  • Lakewood Council Position 5: Doug Richardson
