Two Memorial Ceremonies for four Ft. Lewis Stryker Brigade Soldiers

FORT LEWIS, Wash. – Family, friends, Soldiers and the Fort Lewis community will remember four Soldiers from two of Fort Lewis’ Stryker Brigades during
two memorial ceremonies Thursday, Sept. 24.

5TH STRYKER BRIGADE MEMORIAL CEREMONY – Sept. 24, 10 a.m., North Fort Chapel

A memorial ceremony for 1st Lt. David T. Wright II, and Sgt. Andrew H. McConnell will be conducted at 10 a.m. at the North Fort Chapel.

1st Lt. David T. Wright II, 26, of Moore, Okla., and Sgt. Andrew H. McConnell, 24, of Carlisle, Pa. died Sept. 14 of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device in southern Afghanistan.

The Soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash. The brigade deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in July, 2009.

3RD STRYKER BRIGADE MEMORIAL CEREMONY – Sept. 24, 2:30 p.m., Main Post Chapel

A memorial ceremony for Staff Sgt. Todd W. Selge, and Spc. Jordan M. Shay will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the Main Post Chapel.

Staff Sgt. Todd W. Selge, 25, of Burnsville, Minn., and Spc. Jordan M. Shay, 22, of Salisbury, Mass., died Sept. 3 in Baqubah, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over.

The soldiers were assigned to 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash. The unit deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in early August, 2009.
