Alfred Leo Goudge U.S. Navy Retired Passed away on Friday evening, September 11, 2009 at Madigan Army Medical Center, Fort Lewis, Washington. “Al” was born in Coleraine, Minnesota on April 14, 1922 to Russell and Louise Goudge. He was raised in Bemidji and Blackduck, Minnesota. He joined the United States Navy in 1940. He was initially captured in Manila and escaped, and then was captured again at Corregidor Island, Philippines on May 6, 1942, and survived the infamous Hell Ships to Japan. He was a P.O.W. for 3 1/2 years. Al continued in the U.S. Navy for 29 years, having also served during the Korean Conflict. After retiring, Al lived in both California and Washington state, the last twenty-five years in Olympia, Roy, and Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Frances and Ila, brothers David, William, and Ralph, sister Beatrice, and son David. Al is survived by his wife, Lucille Davey, of Tacoma, sister Marie Brunner of San Diego, CA, children Nancy and Jim Goudge of Clearbrook, MN, stepchildren Renee Davey of Simi Valley, CA, Gary Davey of Tacoma, Sharon Davey of Vancouver, WA and Melody Clark of Milton, WA. He was “grandpa” to several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Al was a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War-Tacoma and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Viewing will be held from 1:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Mountain View Funeral Home. David Michael Latham Born January 9, 1947 in Yuma, AZ. passed away unexpectedly September 8, 2009 at his home in Tacoma, WA. David graduated from Bethel High School where he enjoyed playing sports. He excelled at track and was especially proud of his accomplishments he achieved. He was employed at Jesse Engineering and was a very talented and valued employee until his retirement there. He is preceded in death by his wife Nikki Lee, August 13, 2008, son Troy Breck, his parents Art and Sylvia and nephew, Chad. For all those who knew Dave, they will miss his smile and laugh. “Are you talking to me?” was the slogan Dave used to get all of us laughing and smiling at him. He will especially be missed by his daughter Traie Van Wettering (Brad), son Scott David, brother Tom Latham (Vicki) and many more close family members. Debra Lynn Smith Passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2009 at the age of 51. Debbie is survived by her two sons, Johnathon and Ernest Flattum, her father Bobby Smith, her three brothers, Robert, Michael and Randy Smith as well as two granddaughters and 12 nieces and nephews. The comfort that we have is that Debbie has been reunited with her mother, Donna Jean Smith in Heaven. We all love you, Debbie, and your memory will continue to live on in our hearts.
