MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – About 60 personnel from the 446th Airlift Wing, who are currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and operations in the Horn of Africa, will celebrate Patriot Day on Sept.11.
This is the first deployment for a majority of the Reservists who are proficient in their military and civilian careers. The deployed electricians, plumbers, masons, and carpenters are all classified as masters in their civilian professions. Police members are deployed as well.
Reservists from the 446th Security Forces Squadron have been in Iraq since July this year and the 446th Civil Engineer Squadron sent people who arrived in Iraq earlier this month. It is the largest contingent of McChord Reserve cops in Iraq since Sept. 11, 2001.
Most of the Reservists reside all over the state of Washington, but some are from different areas across the country including: Portland, Salem, Ore., Hillsbrough, Ore., Tillamook, Ore., Harrisville, Mich., Buffalo, N.Y., and Sugarland, Texas.
