LAKEWOOD, WA – On September 12th, Lakewold Gardens will turn over its ten acres to budding garden and nature lovers everywhere for its Community Kid’s Day (Saturday, September 12th – 10:00 am – 3:00 pm) event. Now in its fifth year, Lakewold hosts this event in the hopes to touch the lives of many children and reach out to the community. Admission to the event is $1.00 or a donation of new toiletries or college level school supplies to benefit young adults transitioning out of foster care. All donations will be accepted on behalf of Pierce County Alliance.
This annual event brings hundreds of children and their families to the gardens each year. Visitors can explore a variety of booths that feature garden arts & crafts, fun activities, and educational information presented by local organizations. For example, make a “Toad Abode” with the Tacoma Nature Center & Tahoma Audubon, or create a children’s ID kit with the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Tacoma. With the support of local organizations we are able to provide a diverse event where children can learn good environmental stewardship, safety, and generosity while having fun.
