Lakewood, Wash. – In 2008, Captain Michael Dobbs and Firefighter Rick Snodgrass took on a project for Lakewood Fire District 2 unlike any other. Their goal was to produce trading cards, showcasing all of the District’s apparatus and stations. Earlier this year, the project was completed and this month was awarded first place from the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Media Awards.
There are 12 trading cards and each one was funded through partnerships with local Lakewood community members and businesses. Each card includes information about an apparatus, the station in which it is housed, and a safety message on the back.
This project would not have been possible without our sponsors, who include: Lakewood Professional Firefighters Local 1488, Clover Park Rotary, Lakewood Ford, Clover Park Kiwanis, Brink and Sadler, Eva McLean, Home Street Bank, Lakes Auto Body, Lakewood First Lions, Gene’s Towing, The Schooner Pub, and Pacific Air Systems. Remember, the next time you see a Lakewood firefighter, ask them for a trading card and collect all twelve!
Congratulations and thank you to Captain Dobbs and Firefighter Snodgrass on a job well done!Print This Post
