I feel the mood of the country is ugly right now. It doesn’t matter if you want ‘public option’ or not – we are a people who have turned against each other.
Regarding Adam Smith’s town hall meeting: Those for public option were well organized (tables set up, silk-screened t-shirts, printed posters and banners). Those opposed seemed to wear ‘every day’ clothes and carried hand lettered signs. Tell me, which is the ‘grass roots’ and which is the ‘Astro Turf’?
Congressman Smith had all of the ‘right’ answers. He was well tutored. He tried to make everyone in the stadium believe that he concurred with their beliefs. However, there was ample evidence that not every one was in agreement.
Recently I read an analysis of ‘what to expect at the Town Hall meetings.’ Congressman Smith certainly played by the ‘rules’ as outlined by his Congressional leadership.
