Kudos to Representatives Smith and Dicks for scheduling the Town Hall meetings! It has been a refreshing sight to see more people involved in their government — regardless of their position — by participating in these across the country. I am dismayed to know that our two dear Senators do not find it necessary to meet with their constituents in a Town Hall setting — either in the public meeting forum or in the teleconference type. Without the interaction with the public, I wonder how they know how to represent us? I know that when I write to them, I get form letters of talking points that only vaguely relate to questions I have asked or suggestions I have made — in other words a big “thank you for your interest in government; now go away, I’ve made up my mind”. I believe citizens deserve more than that from their representatives. Shame on them.
