FORT LEWIS, Wash. – Media are invited to cover team ambassadors from the Portland Trail Blazers who will conduct a free basketball clinic for children of Fort Lewis Soldiers at the North Fort Youth Center, August 18, from 9-11 a.m.
Former Trail Blazers coaching the youth hoops clinic include:
- Jerome Kersey- NBA career from 1984-2001, played for Portland, Warriors, Lakers, Sonics, Spurs, and Bucks.
- Antonio Harvey- NBA career from 1992-2003, played for Portland, Lakers, Sonics, Grizzles, Clippers, and Hawks.
- Dale Schlueter- NBA career from 1968-1978, played for Portland, 76ers, Hawks, Warriors, Suns, and Buffalo Braves.
- Harry Glickman, one of the Trail Blazers’ founders and team president from 1987 to 1994, will also participate.
About 100 youth enrolled in grades 4-8 will participate in the clinic.
Afterwards the Trail Blazer team ambassadors will tour the Stryker reset facility, test-drive a Stryker Vehicle Simulator, and visit with Soldiers participating in the Madigan Army Medical Center Warrior Transition Battalion’s adaptive sports programs.
