Randi Slatten has taken over as president of the Steilacoom Historical Museum Association (SHMA), replacing Joan Shalikashvili who resigned. Slatten is currently serving her second year on the association board of directors. She has been serving as vice president of the board this past year.
A new member for the board is Diane Maus who moved to Steilacoom from Southern California in 2005. Since joining the association shortly after moving to the town, she became coordinator for docent activities at the museum and has volunteered during the July 4 celebration, salmon bake and apple squeeze. A year ago she was elected as a trustee on the board and currently is chairman of the museum operations committee.
The retiring president said she plans to continue serving on the board of directors as immediate past president and other SHMA activities. “I have enjoyed the jobs,” with the association, Shalikashvili said. “At this point, however, I need to take the time and energy I was devoting to the presidency and concentrate on some personal affairs.”
