It was big news in this region in the mid 1850s when Capt. Lafayette Balch’s ship arrived from San Francisco. Down in the ship’s hold was a special cargo that would change the way information was distributed around the Sound. More than 150 years later, Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 has changed the way it distributes district news. Effective August 17, School District patrons can now get “Good News” electronically.
The change is the District’s money-saving effort to deliver important district information to all readers. While individual schools will continue to publish in-building newsletters electronically, a compact district newsletter was developed this past summer. It’s called “Good News,” and it will be available regularly during the 2009-10 school year.
To view “Good News” please visit www.steilacoom.k12.wa.us and access the link “About the District” for information about topics ranging from new administrators to schedules to tips about ways to make the start of the school year easier, and lots more. It’s all “Good News.”
