Obituary Notice

July 29, 2009 By Dave Sclair

Barclay SharonSharon Irene Barclay Sharon, age 47, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009. While at a family reunion in Boise Idaho, Sharon drowned on the Payette River on a river-rafting trip. She was born Sept. 16, 1961 in Tacoma to Douglas Carter of Graham and Sharon Carter of Tacoma. Sharon graduated from Bethel High School in 1980 and continued her education in the health care field. Being of Haida Native American decent, she experienced pride in learning of her culture and sharing that with her children. Sharon enjoyed 27 years of a loving marriage to her high school sweetheart, Richard Scott Barclay. They were married on July 10, 1982 and she spent most of those years traveling with her husband and family with the Army until they retired last year. Sharon shared her loving heart donating countless hours in supporting the USO while her husband served his country in Iraq. As a recent resident of Lakewood, WA, she was finding great joy in owning her first home. She was a loving mother to her four children, a strong, independent woman who served her family, community and church. She was a “Twilight” fanatic, but enjoyed many hobbies, especially sharing her gift of cooking, entertaining and decorating. Everyone loved Sharon’s egg rolls, cookies and pies. She loved her work helping and taking care of people as an ER Tech and a medical insurance coordinator for Maxim Health Care of Tacoma. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she took with her wonderful experiences and memories of her life here on earth with family and friends. She leaves behind her loving husband, Richard, her four beautiful children, Alicia, Richard Jr., Brittany and Crystal; her father and mother, sister, two brothers, an aunt and many other family members and many friends. A special thank you to all her family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances that have crossed paths and brought her joy in this life. And for Robin, Aaron and Kip of Summers Funeral Home in Boise, Idaho, we express a heart full of eternal gratitude for their service and support. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Lakewood Stake Center, 10018 Far West Drive SW, Lakewood, WA. Viewing is at 12:00 to 1:30 pm; services begin at 2pm. No Graveside service will be held at this time. Please sign online guestbook at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
