Communities In Schools of Lakewood Recognizes Funders

July 29, 2009 By Ben Sclair

Submitted by Dave O’Keeffe

Over the past three months, Communities In Schools of Lakewood (CISL) has received grants from a wide range of funding partners. CIS is grateful for every donation—large and small—which helps us to accomplish our mission of assuring that every student in Lakewood has the support they need to graduate on time, and succeed in life. If you would like to “invest” in programs that impact over 1500 students each year, contact Dave O’Keeffe at 589-7489 or donate online at our website: www.lakewood.ciswa.org

Grants received between April-July 2009 include:

  • Bank of America (M) = $5,000
  • City of Lakewood (ASP Supplemental Grant) = $6,000
  • Comcast (RTL) = $5,000
  • Costco Wholesale (GO) = $10,000
  • Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (M) = $6,000
  • Nelson Family Foundation (ASP) = $5,000
  • Northwest Children’s Fund (GO) = $7,500
  • Puget Sound Energy (GO) = $500
  • Simpson Kraft (GO) = $1,000
  • Tacoma Links (GO) = $250
  • Target (RTL) = $3,000
  • Vogt Family Foundation (ASP) = $5,000
  • Windermere Paragon (RTL) = $1,000

*M – Mentor; *ASP – After-School Program; *RTL – Readiness to Learn; * GO – General Operating

To keep our programs going and growing we must raise $23,000 per month. State, county, city, corporate and foundation grants account for two-thirds of our funding. CISL depends on individuals, local businesses, service clubs and fundraisers to raise $7,800 per month. If you wish to “invest” in our programs you may do so by mailing a check to: CISL, 6402 100th St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499; you may also donate on-line through our Website: www.lakewood.ciswa.org. Your support is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or wish to observe our programs in action, contact Dave O’Keeffe or Christina Klas at 589-7489.
