District applauded for low rate of immunization exemptions

For the second year in a row, Clover Park School District (CPSD) received praise from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department for its low rate of student immunization exemptions. CPSDs immunization exemption rate is 1.7 percent while Pierce County’s is 3.7 percent and the state’s is 4.8 percent.

A letter from the health department addressed to Debbie LeBeau, CPSD superintendent, states, “Your district has played a vital role in protecting your students and the community from diseases such as mumps and measles by ensuring that students are vaccinated…We applaud your efforts in providing strong leadership to your school in order to implement strong policies and procedures in the effort to minimize the number of non-medical exemptions from required immunizations.”
