The City of Lakewood is now accepting applications for the funding of Human Services in Lakewood. Funds will be available for services provided January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. The amount of funds available is approximately $279,000. City of Lakewood funding is not intended to be the sole financial source of any program. City funding is intended to support collaborative efforts that are preventive in nature and programs/projects that utilize research-based best practices with proven outcomes related to the identified goals.
Human services programs that address basic needs will be given greatest consideration. Basic needs programs should identify how they meet basic human needs in the areas of food, shelter, clothing, safety, domestic violence and childhood education.
All awarded contracts for funding will contain the following language: Discrimination Prohibited. The Agency shall not discriminate against any employee, applicant for employment, or any person seeking the services of the Agency to be provided under this Contract on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, national origin, marital status, or presence of any sensory, mental or physical handicap.
Further, the Agency, in the provision of any services rendered, shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, color, ethnicity, or national origin in its operations or the availability or operation of its programs. This does not affect any otherwise lawful classification that (a) is based on sex and is necessary for sexual privacy or medical or psychological treatment; or (b) provides for separate athletic teams for each sex.”
