Local Red Cross disaster volunteers responded to a duplex fire located at the 200 block of Lake Louise Drive SW in Lakewood this weekend. The American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter provided immediate emergency assistance for the individuals displaced by the fire. During the past Fourth of July weekend, Red Cross volunteers responded to a total of five residential fires and helped more than 11 people. Red Cross disaster relief provides for disaster-caused needs such as temporary shelter, groceries, clothing, medication replacement and emotional support for local families impacted by disasters.
