Washington Women’s Employment & Education Announces New Board Members

Washington Women’s Employment & Education (WWEE) Board of Directors recently announced the election of its newest members: Alice Aumoeualogo, Susan Gordon, Bonnie Sellen, and Wanda Wilder. These new members will help to provide guidance, resource development and strategic direction to the organization as it continues its mission, assisting low-income individuals to gain the skills, the knowledge and the courage to become self-supporting.

Susan Gordon is a former journalist who most recently wrote about environmental issues for The News Tribune in Tacoma, where she worked for nearly 25 years. Gordon currently works as a paraeducator for the Clover Park School District in Lakewood. She joins the Board of Directors because she wants to help build financial support and ensure the agency’s continued success. “WWEE responds to the needs of folks suffering financial hardship not only through useful training, but by helping people discover the courage and will to succeed,” Gordon says.

About WWEE: Washington Women’s Employment & Education (WWEE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Tacoma. WWEE helps people break the cycle of poverty and build self-confidence. Over the past 27 years, more than 13,000 families have benefited from WWEE’s powerful 5-week course covering computer skills and essential life coping strategies, as well as ongoing housing, job-readiness and work experience internship programs. Graduates say the ultimate benefit of the program is gaining the confidence to believe in themselves and become self-sufficient. Additional information about WWEE may be found at www.wwee.org.
