Lakewood, WA – Jutta Stevens, the first female partner at Brink & Sadler, a Lakewood CPA firm, is the spring 2009 Distinguished Alumni for Clover Park Technical College. Stevens will be honored at the 2009 spring commencement ceremony tonight at 7 pm at the McGavick Student Center on campus.
A native of Germany, she came to the Lakewood area in 1984 and enrolled at Clover Park Vocational School to complete her GED. With the encouragement and support of her husband, while working at a local Laundromat and having a young daughter at home, she went back to Clover Park to apply to the Secretary Clerk/Typist class. In 1988 she received her Diploma from Clover Park Vocational School.
After working for a real estate development company for nearly two years, she was hired by Brink & Sadler, CPAs in 1991. There, she furthered her continuing education at Pierce College receiving her Associate Degree and moving to St. Martin’s College, now St. Martin’s University, for her bachelor’s degree in Accounting. After graduating magna cum laude, she moved from an administrative position to a professional CPA position with Brink & Sadler. She continued her studies and passed her CPA exam in 2000. In 2006 she was invited to become the first female partner at Brink & Sadler, a Lakewood CPA firm founded in 1970.
Stevens enjoys the interaction with her clients especially helping them succeed. Stevens is active in the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, the Network of Tacoma, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. For 23 years, she has been an active member of a Ft Lewis based German Wives Club where they help newly arrived spouses integrate into the local community.
Stevens is joined by a prestigious group of distinguished alumni from Clover Park Technical College including Kurt Graff, CEO Northwest Commercial Bank and Linda Smith, CEO Lakewood Chamber of Commerce.
