She was born May 30, 1909 in Minnesota. She passed away June 6, 2009 at Tacoma, WA. She turned age 100 in May of this year.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Phyllis Strobel and Marlys Junkley and by a son Wesley Ostrem. She is also survived by 3 sisters in Minnesota and by 3 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.

Alfonso Banks of Tacoma, Washington, went home to be with his Father in Heaven on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Alfonso was preceded in death by son Demetrius Banks, son stillborn, mother Elgertha Banks, father David Banks and brother David R. Banks. He was born in Mulga, Alabama, on February 21, 1943. He graduated from Westfield High School May, 1960. Immediately after high school he married the love of his life Sandra Armstead on October 3, 1962. They have been married for 47 beautiful years and had 2 daughters Sybilla (Earnest) Yearby of Tacoma, Belinda Banks of Tacoma, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and one great grandson. Mr. Banks has 3 sisters Julia Green of Indiana, Ethel Mallory of Missouri and Patricia Hinton of Alabama, Alfonso leaves behind a host of extended family and friends. Mr. Banks joined the Army in 1963-1983. He was a Vietnam Vet. During his time in Vietnam he received:ENational Defense Service Medal Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal. Oversea Service Bars: Good Conduct Medal ~ Army Commendation Medal. Army Service and Oversea Service Medal: Non-Commissioned Officer ~ Professional Development Ribbon. Mr. Banks loved supporting and spending time with his grandchildren. They came first in his life. He had a passion for cooking and fishing. Visitation begins Sun. 2-9pm, Services are 11am Mon. Ronald Eugene Doyle, Jr. Passed away peacefully May 30. Born March 1, 1969, an only son. He is survived by his parents Ron and Roxanne Doyle, Sr. grand- parents Don and Laurel Bates, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Services at Mt. Kurt Allen Husted was born July 3, 1970 in Tacoma, Washington. He was taken from his family June 2, 2009 at 38 years old Kurt graduated from Lincoln High School in 1988, attended Lake Washington and Clover Park Technical Colleges. In 1992, Kurt began racing 600, 750, 450 and 250cc motorcycles, winning three championships. During his racing Kurt’s father and nephew spent many weekends working as his pitcrew. Kurt next took up diving as a love of the water and sealife. Recently he had begun taking flying lessons. Kurt was living life to the fullest. Kurt’s fiancée deeply loved Kurt, expressing her everlasting love to the man who treated her so well in their time together, and will miss him forever. Kurt leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents Ronald and Janet Husted, fiancée Deborah Bishop, sister Kirsten Talley, brother-in-law Michael Olin, grandmother Virginia Gosteli, nephews Patrick and Jeremy Talley, along with many family and friends. Kurt will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Kurt shared his smile with everyone. There will be a private family burial. A public closed casket visitation will be held from 1:00-8:30 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center. Charles A. J. McCarthy “Mack” Charles was born June 8, 1938 in Troy New Tork and passed away peacefully on May 23, 2009. He grew up in Troy , where he graduated from Troy High. At 19, he joined the service and worked as an MP for 12.5 years. He was honorably discharged and settled in Tacoma. Charles also worked at Atlas Foundary and, later BHP Steel where he retired for medical reasons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. J. (Sr.) and Elizabeth McCarthy. He is survived by siblings Mary Posniewski of Troy, Bernard McCarthy of Vero beach, FL, and James McCarthy of Tacoma. He also leaves behind 5 children-Charles E. McCarthy, Kelley McCarthy, Charlye McCarthy-Clark, John McCarthy, and Nicole Hoag-as well as 8 grandchildren. Valeria Grace Brewer, 89, of Puyallup, Washington peacefully slept away the last moments of her life at the Heartwood Extended Health Care Facility in Tacoma on June 1, 2009. Val was born on February 14, 1920, IN Enumclaw, Washington. She married Victor K. Brewer, Sr. on New Year’s Eve in 1936, at Tacoma, Washington. Val is survived by her daughter, Sherry Grace Peterson of Puyallup and her son, Victor K. Brewer, Jr. of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Besides being a gentle and loving wife and mother, Val was blessed with six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Five brothers preceded also preceded her. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Garden Chapel at 4100 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood, Washington. Calvin Lewis Passed away June 3, 2009; born Oct. 12, 1921, US Army retired of 25 years. He’s survived by his daughter Deborah Sherls (Alvin), grandchildren Leonard, Simone (Mike), Evan, Ian, Tina, and 2 great-grandchildren. Velvy P. Jacobsen Passed away June 5, 2009 at the age of 96. She was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky in 1912. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Jacobsen. She is survived by her son, Darrell Wilber, daughter Sharon Taylor, and her brother Glenn Ash. She had 7 grandchildren and great- and great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wed.
