New plan revitalizes Tillicum neighborhood

June 1, 2009 By Ben Sclair

Assistant Lakewood City Manager Dave Bugher will discuss the draft Tillicum Neighborhood Plan at the Tillicum/Woodbrook Neighborhood Association meeting on Thursday, June 4. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm at the Tillicum/American Lake Gardens Community Service Center, 14916 Washington Avenue SW.

The Lakewood City Council ordered the creation of a plan for Tillicum after a private consulting firm embarked on its own initiative in 2007. Numerous plans dating back 30 years were reviewed as part of the new plan’s development, which builds on community assets in tackling the neighborhood’s greatest challenges.

The draft plan may be viewed online.

Once refined and adopted, the plan will be used to direct future zoning and financial investment in Tillicum.

Formal public hearings and comment deadlines will be set in the coming weeks. For more information, contact Senior Planner Deborah Johnson at 253.512.2261.
