The following is from Seafood.com News report John Sackton:
Several Alaska Crab coalition members and Arni Thompson have also been helping organize industry support for the seafood buffet event to be held Friday, June 19th, in support of the Madigan Foundation’s wounded warriors program, being publicized by Mark Kandianis.
The industry will be putting on an Alaska Seafood Buffet for 300 Wounded Warriors from Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis, Washington. There will also be Fly-bys of WWII T-6 aircraft with a missing man formation. The Olympic Air Show sponsored by the Olympic Flight Museum is held June the weekend of 20-21 in Olympia. Many pilots and volunteers who will participate in the air show will also be on hand to help with the buffet to honor our Wounded Warriors.
Jim Stone, of the Alaska Scallop Association says the scallopers will donate time & scallops to the function. They will donate $500 each from the Scallop/ Crab boats Arctic Hunter & Ocean Hunter (ACC members) to the Madigan Foundation.
Jim says ‘I encourage others to dig deep and assist these guys. Please contact Mark or the foundation directly for details. I appreciate the work Mark Kandianis has put into this. Mark is combining his love of flying with his seafood connections from many years as a fisherman and his heartfelt appreciation for our fallen and injured Military personnel and their dependants.’
The Madigan Foundation is a great way for us to give back to the military men & women and their families who have given so much to us. These guys help with all the little things that the Military may not think of, from helping families with taxis to get to their wounded loved ones bedside. Phone cards for the wounded to use while laid up in the hospital. Even some medical equipment. These guys are all volunteers consisting of mostly retired military doctors with almost no overhead (I have been told as little as 3%), meaning they make sure that 97% of our donations will make it to the military families that need the help.
Contributions are fully tax deductible, and should be made to:
The Madigan Foundation for Wounded Warriors Event and mailed to
Madigan Foundation, P.O. Box 97215, Lakewood, WA 98497.
Each donation of $500 gives the contributor a ticket for a drawing for a flight in a beautifully restored 1942 T-6/SNJ-4 WWII Advanced Trainer Aircraft N119 DP.
