Garrett teaches calculus and math at Steilacoom High School. Prior to entering the education profession, Garrett played professional baseball for the Oakland A’s.

Tony Robinson, a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club, made the presentation to the teachers of the month, a practice the club follows throughout the school year.

The 130-member Lakewood Rotary Club recognizes a teacher each month from the Clover Park and Steilacoom Historical School Districts as well as a student of the month from each of the districts.

Lakewood Rotary Club has been supporting the community since it was chartered more than 50 years ago. The organization meets each Friday noon at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club. Joel Feldman is currently president of the community service and philanthropic organization.
