Hudtloff Middle School will hold their 11th annual Memorial Day celebration Thursday, May 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Hudtloff gymnasium, 7702 Phillips Rd SW in Lakewood.
Students and staff have been planning the event since early March and welcome community participation as they pay tribute to the country’s slain servicemen and women. As a special part of the event, students will honor their own family members and loved ones who died in service or are missing in action. Students will decorate a flag with the family member’s name and place it on the school’s front lawn.
Clover Park High School’s band will play “Taps” at the closing of the ceremony.
“This event gets better and better every year,” said Ron Jacobs, a counselor at Hudtloff. “Our students take great pride in this ceremony and hope that the Lakewood community with join them as they pay respect to our servicemen and women.”
