Ronald J. Lincoln Born February 7, 1945, who was a long-time resident of Tacoma, passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, May 9, 2009. Ron was born and grew up in Belding, Michigan. He served in the US Army for 20 years. Ron was a member of the Tacoma Banjo Club, which provided much enjoyment to Ron. He is survived by his daughters Susie Lincoln and Silvia Lincoln, brothers Mike Lincoln, Joe Lincoln, Dick Wright and David Wright, nephew Russell Hall and his family; and significant other Jung Sook DiGiovanni and her family. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. at Mountain View Funeral Home (Aspen Chapel) in Tacoma, with a reception following at the Aspen Chapel Reception Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association .
Bernis Luella Reid Age 96, a resident of Tacoma Lutheran Home, passed away May 12, 2009. Born on May 6, 1913 in Kelso, Wa. In her younger years, she worked as an elevator operator at the Weyerhauser Building and as a knitting instructor at Rhodes Dept. store. She was a member of Fern Chapter #7 Order of Eastern Star, where she continually held offices during her lifetime. Preceding her in death were husbands John Jorgenson and Bill Reid (retired Navy) and survivor of Pearl Harbor; also daughters Maida Farning (Harold) and Barbara Rolf. Survivors include son-in-law Orville Rolf (Jacki), grandchildren Michael Rolf (Carol), Puyallup, Wa., Leslie DeRocher (Tom), Lynnwood, Wa., Gary Rolf (Erika), Eagle River, Ak, Kevin Rolf, Shelton, Wa., Tracy Seward (Sam), Vancouver, Wa., Brian Rolf (Andrea), Redmond, WA., and 8 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m. in the Garden Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home. A special thanks to the staff at Tacoma Lutheran Home for the loving care she received there.
Robert Earl Ward Longtime Tillicum resident Robert Earl Ward died May 12, 2009. He was born May 8, 1920 to Bradford and Edith Ward in Napoleon, North Dakota. Mr. Ward was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. After returning from the war, he began a long civil service career at Ft. Lewis in the Audio-Visual Department. Mr. Ward loved to travel, visiting friends in England many times. He also took tours to places including China, Europe, and South America. Robert moved rom his home of 50 years in Tillicum to Maple Creek Residential care in Lakewood in 2004 where he enjoyed the fellowship of many friends and staff. He especially enjoyed playing card games, Bible study, and lots of good food. He had many interests. He loved politics, books, was a member of the United Methodist Church at Lakewood, a friend of Lakewood Library, and member of the B.P.O.E. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by brothers Chester, Harold, and D’Estaing and sisters Helen Poverud and Ella Harwood. Joy Ilene (Bush) Iverson Joy Ilene Iverson born September 2nd 1934 in Tacoma, WA passed away unexpectedly in her home May 8, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband just 3 months prior. They are now together again in a better place. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Paulson, brothers Louie Bush, Art Bush and sisters Marian Kasemeier and Vi Twining. She dedicated her time and life to her cats. She took great care of them and they gave her happiness. She was an extreme animal lover who wouldn’t even harm a fly. Eileen G. Richey May 18, 1924 – May 13, 2009 Eileen passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. She was a long-time member of Tacoma Alliance Church. Eileen was born in Yakima, WA, and married Woodrow Richey in 1944. She was preceded in death by her former husband Woodrow, parents George and Mabel Doll, brother Carlyle, son Mike, grandson Brian King, and great-grandson Colton Allan. Eileen is survived by her children Beverly (Bill) Allan of Whidbey Island, Patti (Don) Filand of Tacoma, Bob (Nancy) Richey of Ellensburg, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 18, 2009 at 1 PM at Terrace Heights Cemetery in Yakima.Print This Post
