Visit Lakewold Gardens for the Tacoma Garden Club’s Growing Inspiration flower show, which celebrates Lakewold’s 20th Anniversary and honors the gardens in a myriad of ways.
While it is called a flower show, in actuality it is so much more. Growing Inspiration will feature five divisions: Flower Arrangement, Horticulture, Photography, Botanical Jewelry, and Conservation/Education. Garden Club members will compete in four out of five of these divisions and Garden Club of America awards will be presented if merited.
Several classes within each division celebrate the unique qualities of Lakewold by requiring that entries emulate various characteristics of the estate’s past, present, and future. One such entry is titled “Celebrating Lakewold” from one of the newest additions to the show, Photography. To qualify, entries for this division must submit a color, or sepia, photograph of Lakewold celebrating nature or people. Botanical Jewelry is also a new division to the show and its theme, “Celebrating the Glamour Years of Lakewold,” will undoubtedly evoke the spirit of the garden. These two divisions are only a sample of what visitors can enjoy. With new additions to the show and the possibility of over 80 entries total, this event is a true compliment to the garden and its 20th Anniversary.
Please join us for the Tacoma Garden Club’s flower show May 15 and 16 from 10am-4pm. Admission to the show is free May 15th, while standard Lakewold admission fees apply May 16th.
