Lakewood Partners for Parks event raises funds

May 3, 2009 By Dave Sclair

The 2nd annual Blue Denim and Black Tie fundraiser event for Lakewood’s Partners for Parks drew a crowd of about 200 and raised approximately $35,000 (before expenses) to help fund the fishing pier at American Lake Park.

Held at the McGavick Center on the Clover Park Technical College campus, the primary fundraising came from attendees pledging funds for the project. Several local service clubs stepped up to provide contributions as well as numerous individuals.

Lakewood Parks and Recreation Director Mary Dodsworth told the assembled group that this is going to take several years to be built but the funds raised will help speed up the timetable.
