Angela Renee Heiser
May 2, 1985 — April 25, 2009
Our beautiful angel, Angela was tragically taken away from us on April 25 after a sudden and brief illness. She was deeply loved, more than words can be expressed, by her family. Angie was a very compassionate young woman who loved her dog Ozzie, her kitties, Marley, Gracie, Cleo and most of all, Baby. Her infectious smile and beautiful blue eyes made our world a wonderful place. She was, and always will be, the light of her mother and father’s life. Angie appreciated the simple things and was a very strong willed young lady. She leaves behind her parents, Scott and Wendy Heiser, brothers Noel (Shannon) Carlson, Seth (Jennifer) Carlson, niece Cora and nephews Tate and Cole. Angie is also survived by her uncle, Michael (Melanie) Heiser, cousin, Drew, aunt, Marcia Drake, cousins, Todd (Starla) Drake, Chad (Heather) Drake, grandparents Arlen and Ute Heiser, special cousin Shana Heiser-Nash and several other family members and friends.
Angie was a 2004 Wilson High School graduate, attended Tacoma Community College and most recently had been a crew member at Trader Joes in University Place. She had a charming personality and enjoyed ‘hanging out’ with friends, listening to music, going to concerts and bringing joy into other people’s lives. Angie, you meant the world to your family and friends, our beautiful young daughter. We were blessed and are so thankful for the time that we had with you. We will miss you and love you.
Angela, you were my only child. I will always cherish the time we had together and will always love you — more than you could ever know. You were my life and I have never been so heartbroken, but your courage and strength have helped me to become a stronger person. Though, I know you are no longer in pain and are at last in peace, I will keep you in my heart until I can hold you in my arms again. As you have written to and told me “I will always be your little girl.” Mom and I will see you in our dreams my precious one. I will love you — always and forever – Dad

David R. Palamidessi 9/22/37 ~ 4/21/09 David was born 9/22/37 to Gena and Nello Palamidessi in Tacoma, WA. Growing up in the Depression, he grew a passion for watching the trains go by his home on Washington Street. After graduating from Stadium High School, he began his lifelong career with the Burlington Northern Railroad. Upon retirement, he enjoyed hunting in Columbia, his dog Bruna and many other activities. Survivors include his brother Richard, his niece and nephew-in-law, Susan and Tom Redding, nephew Dick, many cousins and friends. At his request, no services will be held. Wilma VanVolkenburg Born April 9, 1908 to Clare and Eva Beal, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on April 20, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zack VanVolkenburg (1991), and her eldest Daughter, Veda (Willard) Miller (2007). Wilma lived part of her childhood in a train boxcar with her six siblings, all now deceased, and was mostly unschooled. She married “Zackie” January 1927. Wilma made spending-money baby-sitting and assisting Zack selling cotton candy and snow cones at various events around Tacoma, including every Halloween at a local funeral home. The two were a popular Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus at various functions. Wilma became well known for her amazing crochet work, a skill she perfected by magnifying photos from a newspaper she could not read. She also shared an organic vegetable garden with daughter Veda, and was known by some for her delicious apple cobbler and gifts of homemade applesauce. In her later years, Wilma was a grandma to every child in church, frequently swarmed for the love she always carried in her heart and the candy she always carried in her pockets. Her quick mind and exceptional hearing belied her 101 years. Wilma is survived by four of her children, Charles (Helen) VanVolkenburg, Obed (Lorraine) VanVolkenburg, Nelda (Norman) Behling, and Donald (Marie) VanVolkenburg; by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, April 27, with a reception to follow at Olympic View Baptist Church. Veda D. Ledbetter-Weaver Time To Cha Cha! 07/25/26- 04/18/09 Veda had a full life, born and educated in Birmingham, England. She came to the states after WWII, when she married. She retired from Ft. Lewis as a budget analyst with 28 1/2 years, Civil Service. Veda was a dedicated ballroom dancer and had taught for Arthur Murray. She was involved in many dance clubs, member of the Tacoma Elks, Eagles, No. 3 Narfe, and many others. She was involved in many pet agencies and foundations also in Tacoma. She traveled from here to England 12 times to see family. She loved gardening and decorating her home for every holiday, but her greatest love was her pets. Her survivors include her adopted girl Lisa, and family of Roy, brother Roy, and nieces and nephews in Tamworth, England. No service per her request. Susan Mildred Livingston Sue Livingston passed away peacefully in her Seattle home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 24th, 2009. Sue was born in Sheboygan, WI on March 26th, 1932, the daughter of Hazel and Levi Martin. She met her husband Marlin “George” Livingston while serving in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. They made their home in places as varied as Anchorage, AK and Bermuda, finally retiring in Lakewood, WA. In their 44 years of marriage, she was a devoted wife, homemaker, avid reader, incredible baker, impromptu seamstress, professional volunteer, charitable giver, and loving mother of four. Her greatest joy in life was being involved with her family and sharing in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, George. To cherish her memories, she leaves her four children, Steve (Patricia), Kathy (Pat), Bruce (Jodi), and Lynn (Gregg), and her nine grandchildren, Ian, Neil, Kyle, Ryan, Mindy, Ruben, Nelson, Lauren, and Kate. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at noon at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, in the Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98496. Johnnie Leo York, SFC Retired Johnnie passed on April 22, 2009 at the age of 82 and was born in Mayflower, Arkansas on Nov. 19, 1926. Johnnie was preceded in death by Detta York, wife of 63 years, and son of 8 years, Johnnie Leo York, Jr. He is survived by 3 children, Dottie Mazza (Nick), Tom York (Colleen) and Donald York; 3 brothers, Joe York and Elmer York of Arkansas, Glenn York of Mississippi; and sisters Christine Green of Arkansas and Ellen Crowder of Tennessee. Johnnie was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who called him “Pa-Pa.” He served his country in three wars, World War II, Korea and Viet Nam. He was very proud of his military service and retired in 1967. Johnnie owned South Way Motors Car Lot in south Tacoma from 1969 to 2000. He was the happiest when he was taking care of his wife, who passed away November 28, 2008. She’s been waiting for them to be together and now they will be together in the house of the Lord forever. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Garden Chapel at at Mountain View Funeral Home, with full military honors at graveside.
