Letter: Vlaming running for school board

April 23, 2009 By Ben Sclair

I will be a candidate for the Clover Park School Board District 3 position in this year’s election. I’m a long time Lakewood resident, having grown up here and moved back from Renton in 1982. Graduated from CP in 1973, UW in ’77. I currently have 2 children at Lakes; a third graduated in 2007 and is currently in the Foster School of Business at UW. I’ve been employed by the Boeing Company since 1978, holding positions in facilities planning and operations, financial planning and analysis, and currently, program and project planning in their Security and Fire Protection group. My wife is a paraeductor for the District at Park Lodge Elementary School.

I have been involved with CPSD for the last 12 years, serving on a number of committees, most recently as chairman of the Facilities Advisory Committee. I am a past board member and chair for Communities in Schools of Lakewood.

I support the highly regarded Board goals (Suburban Times 4/22), and want to see them aggressively pursued. The current Facilities Plan evolution and implementation is important for the District and City growth.
