Tillicum has been identified as one of the areas in Pierce County where an increase in abuse related child fatalities has occurred during 2004 to 2008.
There is a presentation Friday (April 24) at the DSHS complex 1949 South State St., Room 195, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Key community participants include the Tacoma Pierce County Health Dept., Mary Bridge Childrens Health Center, and the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.
Discussion groups will review the data and plan next steps, focusing on strategies to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect while improving outcomes for children.
Nancy Sutton, Regional Administrator for DSHS, will be speaking at the Tillicum Woodbrook Neighborhood Association at its May 7th meeting.
