edwards-williamWilliam T. (Tom) Edwards July 4th, 1941 – April 19th, 2009 The son of William T. (Bill) and Alice (Michaelson) Edwards, has gone to be with the Lord. Tom was the owner of the Service Fuel Logging and Clearing Company. He was a student at Stadium and Wilson High School’s in the late 1950’s, He was a football player. Tom loved football, camping, the ocean and clam digging. Tom’s grandparents were early pioneers to Washington State. Llewellyn (Lew) and Jennie (Ruddock) Edwards, moved to Ocosta, Washington in the mid 1890’s from Wheaton, Illinois. In 1901 they moved to Tacoma, they were blessed with three sons and three daughters. Lew was the owner and operator of the L.M. Edwards Fuel Co., from 1901 until his death in 1928. His son William T. (Bill) Edwards was the owner/operator of the company until his retirement in 1961. At that time, Bill’s son William T. (Tom) took over as owner/operator of the company until the present time. His grandparents Henry and Elizabeth Michaelson moved from Amery, Wisconsin to McNeil Island, Washington in the 1890’s, Henry was a farmer by trade. They were blessed with eleven children. Alice Michaelson married Bill Edwards in 1929, they had three sons and a daughter, Tom is survived by his brother Nick Edwards, his children Tom and Steve Edwards of Tacoma and his daughter Tami (Edwards) Reedy of Buckley, WA. and several grandchildren. Tom is loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. In the words of his father “When you start something, do a good job and when you’re finished, go out in flying colors.” Funeral services will be Sat. rutt-ernaErna Rutt was a deeply religious woman who was called to heaven on April 16, 2009 to be with the angels. She began her life in Tacoma on February 26, 1914, graduated from Lincoln High School, worked as a bookkeeper and medical receptionist, and married Alexander Rutt on October 13, 1934. When Erna was fifteen years old she started a social group of friends – simply called the “Club” – and this group of women continued to meet once a month until they were in their eighties. Erna attended the Life Center Church and gained happiness from the fellowship offered by the Women of the Word. Erna is preceded in death by her husband and five siblings. She is survived by her son Larry Rutt (Sharon), daughter Jevra Bashey (Husain), five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 11am at Mt. View Funeral Home in Lakewood in the Celebration of Life Center. Reception to follow.
