Harold Wilcken Pratt, Jr. Harold Wilcken Pratt, Jr. was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Mexico City, D.F., Mexico to Harold Wilcken Pratt and Anna Hendrickson. He passed away on April 15, 2009, in Tacoma, WA. He was a faithful servant of God and sought to do His will. His beloved eternal companion Constance Decker Pratt departed this life in 2004. He is survived by his children Keith (Annette), Ron (Pam), Mark (Melanie), Catherine, Gary (Debbie), Dale (Stephanie), and Jared (Barbara); six of his nine sisters, Lucile, Berta, Carmen, Ramona, Doratha Rae, and Kathleen; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was an U.S. Air Force pilot, retired as a Major, and served in many parts of the world including Japan and Panama. He was later a real estate appraiser. He held bachelor’s degrees from Brigham Young University and Evergreen State College, and a master’s degree in counseling from Central Washington University. He loved his family and family history. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently as home teacher, bishop, stake presidency counselor, temple worker, mission president, and stake patriarch. He served five missions, including to Mexico (twice), Texas, Florida, and the Dominican Republic. He gave over 10 years of his life to full-time missions – a generous tithe of his time on earth. He extended his family’s heritage of faith. Viewing at 8:30 am, Mon., April 20, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2455 S. 78th St., Tacoma, with funeral services following at 10:00 am. Amanda Joanne Brady Was born April 12, 1975 in Arlington, VA. She left Tacoma, WA and entered the glory of Heaven April 14, 2009. She is survived by son Sage Brady, father Joe Brady (Barbara), mother Virginia Rober (Marlon), and brother Jason Brady (Monica). She is loved and remembered by them, extended family, Stadium classmates, Franciscan coworkers, NW Medical Specialties, and Franciscan Hospice. Maurice Aldosia Farr 1/8/1956 – 4/17/2009 Devoted husband, protective father, loving brother, Maurice was born in Jackson, TN to Booker T., Jr. and Amanda Farr, who preceded him in death. After a courageous battle with cancer, Maurice departed from this earth to his heavenly home to receive his glorious crown. Maurice loved life and lived his life to the fullest until the end. His passion for taking care of his family was endless. He is survived by Cleo, his high school sweetheart and wife of 33 years, two beautiful daughters, Tiffany LaTonya and LaShawnda Victoria, eight brothers and sisters, Barbara Joyce Woods, Bronx, NY, Shirley Ann Watson, Tacoma, WA, Veda C. Whitfield (Charles), Jackson, TN, Donna Y. Frazier (Emanuel), Miami, FL, Booker T. Farr III (Jacqueline), Talladega, AL, Felicia Farr Fuller (Troy), Jackson, TN, Sarita Poston, Jackson, TN, Shawn Farr, Jackson, TN; two aunts, Kizzie Hunt (James), Detroit MI, and Esther Bridgman, St. Louis, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. As a faithful member of Allen AME Church, he served as a Trustee, member of the Brotherhood, and dedicated counselor of the Youth Usher Board. As President of Usher Board #2 he exemplified the usher’s prayer, “I would rather be a door keeper in the house of my God then to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” He also had the “community” spirit by participating in CROP walks, AIDS walks, Christmas House and Paint Tacoma Beautiful. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan and he loved to keep up with current affairs. Maurice graduated from Jackson Central Merry High in 1974, earned an associate degree from Pierce College, and graduated cum laude from Central Washington University in 2004 with a BA in Law and Justice. Maurice served his country honorably in the US Army from 1975 to 1978 with an additional 3 years in the Reserves. After the military, Maurice was employed by DSHS for 20 years, where he was truly loved and respected by co-workers and clients. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009, 11:00am, at Allen AME Church, 1223 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Tacoma. For many years, Mom was limited with breathing difficulties, so it brings us comfort knowing she is dancing in Heaven. Albert Lanzilotta Was born May 1, 1931 to Giuseppe (Joseph)Eand Rosa (Vitta) Lanzilotta in Cleveland, OH. He died peacefully March 29, 2009 in Tacoma, WA. He is survived by Elizabeth, his “bride” of 57- 3/4 years, seven of his eleven siblings, three daughters and their very supportive husbands, ten grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and a number of DEAR caregivers who, over the years, became like family to him. His great sense of humor, even in the midst of dementia, will be missed by them all. Al was a loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing, clamming, gardening and taking his family on many camping trips. He was very generous, sharing his boat, garden, produce, knowledge and especially his time with his family and circle of church friends. For many years he was an Adult Sunday School teacher and a Shop Steward for his union. He retired from the composing room of the Tacoma News Tribune in 1993 after thirty-eight years of service. Al served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army 64th Heavy Tank Battalion during the Korean Conflict. He was wounded in the line of duty, receiving a Purple Heart and an Honorable Discharge. He was known for telling folks that he served for 3 years, 3 months and 29 days! A family graveside service was held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma, WA. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 2nd,, 2009 at 2pm at First Nazarene Church, 3640 South M St., Tacoma, WA. All are welcome.
Franziska E. Tate “Fran” was born March 3, 1937 in Holtzhausen, Germany, and went home with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on April 17, 2009 in Tacoma, WA. Fran most enjoyed her family, friends, gardening, and bowling. She is survived by her husband Robert W. Tate, children Franziska (Daniel), Elfriede, Robert, and Lorene (Nick), grandchildren Joshua (Christine), Rachel, Marcus, Aaron, Stefanie (DJ), Elyssa, Robert Jr., Shawntae, Li’l Nick, Marquise, Chanelle, Aralea, and Laneeka, and sister Leni (Erich). Steven M. Wing January 22, 1954 ~ April 13, 2009 Steve was born in Tacoma, WA, the middle son of Ray and Dixie Wing. He was a lifetime Tacoma resident. After graduating from Franklin Pierce High School, Steve made his home in the Midland area. Steve became a journeyman/foreman fence builder and was excellent at his trade. Steve is survived by his mother Dixie, his older brother Gary, and younger brother Rick. A celebration and remembrance of Steve’s life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Puyallup location, 202 Fifth Street N.W., Puyallup, WA at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 6th. Steve always smiled and was a sweet guy, anyone who spent time with him knows this.
NELLIE JEAN BRIDSTON Nellie Jean Bridston passed away peacefully April 17, 2009, surrounded by family, after a short illness. Jean was born to Roy and Nell Colyar in Tacoma, Washington on February 1, 1926. She was raised in Tacoma and graduated from Stadium High School at age 16 in 1942. She was a proud graduate of the Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946, and was a Registered Nurse at Tacoma General Hospital and Western Clinic for over 20 years. Jean married Army 1st Lt. Robert Bridston on March 8, 1947. An assignment to post World War II Germany in Frankfurt, from 1949 to 1952, was a highlight of their lives. Jean enjoyed a short break from nursing as one of the original seven “Meter Maids” hired by the city of Tacoma for downtown parking enforcement, from 1958 to 1960. Jean was was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Robert Bridston in November 2007, and her son, Jeffrey. She is survived by her son James (Christina), daughters Susan Swinkels (Phillip), Nikki Anderberg and Cindy Bellejos. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Yvonne Cunningham Our Mom was born in Tacoma on January 19, 1926 and passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her family on April 17th.
