Four local girls attended a state convention for Washington Jobs Daughters March 6-8, 2009 in Moses Lake. The convention brought members of Job’s Daughters for a fun filled weekend that included cooking/baking, dance, and arts and craft competitions. Carina Coppedge-Pope 14; Amber Galaz 14, Jasmin Ferrante 13, and Shamanice Gordon 14, all attend Curtis Junior High in University Place, entered the various competitions.

Results:

  • Carina placed third twice for photography, third for appetizers, and second for dance duet.
  • Jasmin placed first and second for photography.
  • Amber placed first and second for photography. She also placed second in cooking and won ‘Best in State’ for cookies in the baking category.
  • Shamanice placed second and third in baking.

In addition, the members raised money for Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment, or HIKE. HIKE assists family in need with purchasing assisted hearing devices. For more information about HIKE or Job’s Daughters visit www.waiojd.org or email Michelle Galaz.
